***UPDATE***
IBEW Local 1393 continues to monitor the ongoing labor dispute between NIPSCO and USW Locals 12775 and 13796. NIPSCO has notified the Local Unions that it may initiate lockouts after 4pm today. In a near-unanimous vote over the weekend, the Steelworkers authorized their Local Unions to call a strike.
Local 1393 reiterates its commitment to stand in solidarity with our union brothers and sisters at USW Locals 12775 and 13796 in their fight for a fair contract. Our “A” Agreement provides that it is not a violation for our members to refuse to cross a legal picket line established by another union. Instead of locking out its workers, we strongly urge NIPSCO to focus on bargaining in good faith and reaching a fair contract.
