Union Worx IBEW Local 1393

Please read the following information about our referral procedures carefully.

Getting Started

  • THIS SYSTEM WILL GO LIVE ON JUNE 30, 2025
  • All Applicants are required to have an activated Union Worx account in order to use the Local 1393 Out of Work List Books and bid system.
  • A unique and valid e-mail is required in order to to use this system. 
  • Referral hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on regular business days.
  • The phone number for Dispatch is:  (463) 207-9737
    • Messages are returned in the order they are last received.
    • Multiple messages will result in a call back delay.
  • If you have forgotten your password, there is an e-mail feature to recover/reset your password 24 hours a day.
  • If you know you have an account but are locked out for any reason - DO NOT CREATE A SECOND ACCOUNT.  You must contact the office for assistance at (317) 791-1362 during business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • You may utilize this system through the website/desktop login or by using the Union Worx mobile App, which is available for download through the Apple Store or the Google Play Store
  • You must be logged in and on the Out of Work List to bid on job calls. 
    • Use the Login button on the upper right of this page.
  • This is not a call-in bid system and Local 1393 will not accept call in phone bids.
  • Any questions or situations related to contractual issues should be directed to the Outside Business Agent.  Dispatch will not answer contractual questions.
  • Dispatch does not handle administrative support.  All requests/inquiries outside of dispatch/referral such as letters of introduction, travelers, dues payments, ERTS etc., are to be directed to the Local 1393 front office staff at: (317) 791-1362.

Signing The Books

  • Applicants are required to have an activated Union Worx account before they can submit a book sign request.  
  • Walk-in book signs are not accepted.
  • Applicants can use the computer/desktop login or the Union Worx mobile APP to submit a book sign request.  All requests must be submitted prior to 3:00 p.m. on any business day in order for Applicants to be placed on the books on the same day as their request.
  • Applicants who are not current IBEW members are required to come into the hall the 1st time to complete new membership application paperwork.
  • All new membership application paperwork will expire one (1) year from the date it was completed.  Applicants must renew their paperwork in person before the one (1) year expiration date or be removed from the books.
  • Applicants will be placed in the highest group/book for which they qualify.
  • All Applicants will need to log-in to use the online bid system. If you need help getting logged-in, you may the hall at (317) 791-1362 to assist you.
  • It is your responsibility to maintain your log-in information.
  • ONLY ONE (1) username/password per person. If you can't log in, DO NOT create another account. Contact the office for assistance at (317) 791-1362.
  • All Applicants who are members of other IBEW Locals are required to provide a valid dues receipt at the time Applicant submits a request to register his or her name on the Out of Work List books. 
    • Local 1393 members do not need to provide a copy of their dues receipt.
  • All Applicants, regardless of home local affiliation, are required to have a valid Photo ID on file in order to qualify for employment.
    • All certifications required by a contractor are required to be valid, not expired and uploaded to your account.  This includes a valid CDL A or B for call outs.
  • Documents, dues receipts, certifications, etc., may be uploaded through the  Applicant's mobile/desktop account or through Applicant's mobile APP when submitting a request to sign the books.
  • All Applicants who have been previously referred to work from Local 1393 must have a termination slip on file with the hall in order to be placed on the Out of Work List books.  Termination slips can be e-mailed to: eadams@ibewlocal1393.com 

 

Bidding & Taking Jobs

  • Job calls for the next business day are posted at 04:30 pm, the IBEW 1393 Job Calls Website, and the Union Worx Mobile App.
  • Applicants who are registered on the out-of-work books list may log in and bid for jobs that they qualify for. If multiple jobs are bid, the applicant must select a priority order. Make sure you CONFIRM each bid.
  • Applicants may view and/or amend their bid at any time up to the 8:00 AM job call cutoff (for all calls).
  • The job call system will run at 09:35 am on the day of the call. (09:40 am for short calls)
  • All applicants who placed a bid can be notified of their status via email, text message and/or push notifications. Keep in mind, the OFFICIAL notification of your job call status is found in the ACCOUNT section of the Job Call System.
  • A BID IS A BINDING COMMITMENT TO TAKE THE CALL. DO NOT BID THE JOB IF YOU CANNOT COMPLETE THE REFERRAL AND TAKE THE CALL.
  • All Applicants selected for employment will receive a phone call from Dispatch between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to verify acceptance. 
  • It is the Applicant's responsibility to ensure that Dispatch has a correct contact phone number and to be available during this time slot.
  • All bids must be completed using the Union Worx bid software.  Phone bids are not accepted.

Re-sign/Name Renewal Procedures

  • No matter what your original sign date, re-signs/renewals must be received between the 10th and the 16th of each month (midnight to midnight).
    • Example:  If you sign the books on the 9th of the month, you must still renew your name between the 10th and the 16th.
  • Each applicant on the out-of-work list for any group/book must re-sign/renew their name monthly to maintain their position.
  • Re-signs/renewals may be submitted through your Union Worx website account or by using the Union Worx Mobile App.
  • If you are on a short call, you are still required to re-sign/renew your name.
  • Failure to submit a re-sign/name renewal during the monthly re-sign/renewal  period will result in being removed from the out-of-work list and you will need to re-register, to be added back on the out-of-work list.  No exceptions.

Dings (Strikes)

  • Applicants will be allowed two dings (strikes) without penalty
    • At the time of the third ding (strike), the Applicant will be removed from  the Out of Work List books.
  • Applicants who are registered on the Out of Work List books for a period of three (3) months from sign up date, and who have not bid on and/or accepted an available job will automatically be removed from the Out of Work List books without notice.
  • If any Applicant is refused for employment through no fault of their own, no ding (strike) will be given.

Exemptions

An applicant may request an exemption if they become ill, are injured, on jury duty, on Family Medical Leave, or called for military service and it can be documented by a physician or government official. The Applicant requesting leave must be registered on the out-of-work list and must notify the Business Manager in writing. The applicant on leave will retain their position as long as they are covered by documentation verifying their inability to be employed. While exempt, the applicant must continue to resign monthly.

Applicants may exempt their name from the out-of-work list for personal reasons not related to the above. Applicants who are exempt will not be offered job calls or be charged with a turn-down during this exempt period. This only applies to available referral positions one through twenty-five.

Applicants wishing to declare themselves exempt must:

  1. Notify the Business Manager in writing (regular mail, fax, email) or in person before job calls - No phone calls
  2. Exemptions must be made in five day increments (two five day periods or one 10 day period within one calendar year.)
  3. If an applicant requests a period of time to be exempt, they must remain exempt for that period of time. (No early returns. No exceptions.)
  4. If the Applicant has turn-downs listed before their exemption request, the "dings" will remain after the exemption is over
  5. An applicant will still be responsible for the monthly resign during their exemption period
