We want to provide our membership with an update on the ongoing negotiations for the 6-1393-A Outside Construction Agreement.
On Monday, October 12, 2026, the IBEW Local 1393 Negotiations Committee will return to the bargaining table for our third round of contract negotiations with American Line Builders (ALB), the negotiating representative for our signatory contractors.
As we previously reported, progress at the bargaining table has been slow. To this point, the Union and ALB remain fundamentally divided on several key issues, including contractual language improvements, a fair and competitive wage package, and increases to other negotiated benefits. These are not minor differences. They involve issues that directly impact our members' livelihoods, working conditions, and long-term financial security.
Throughout this process, our Negotiations Committee has remained focused on the priorities identified by YOU, the membership, through the surveys submitted leading up to these negotiations. Those proposals were developed based on your feedback, your concerns, and your expectations for what this next agreement should accomplish.
We want to be clear with our membership: We are committed to bargaining in good faith and working toward a fair and reasonable agreement. However, good-faith negotiations require meaningful consideration and movement from both sides of the table.
At this stage, the parties remain significantly apart on many of the issues our members have identified as their highest priorities. While we remain hopeful that the upcoming negotiations will produce meaningful progress, it will take considerable movement from ALB on these outstanding issues before we can realistically expect to present an agreement to the membership that has a reasonable likelihood of ratification.
Our committee understands the responsibility that comes with representing the membership at the bargaining table. We are not interested in prolonging negotiations unnecessarily, but we are equally unwilling to disregard the priorities our members have entrusted us to represent simply for the sake of reaching an agreement.
Our objective remains unchanged: To negotiate a fair, competitive, and responsible agreement that recognizes the value of our members, protects their interests, and strengthens the future of the Outside Construction industry within our jurisdiction.
We want to thank all members working under the 6th District, Local 1393-A Agreement for their continued patience, trust, and support throughout this process. We also want to recognize and thank the members serving on the Local 1393 Negotiations Committee who volunteered their time and stepped forward to represent their fellow Brothers and Sisters. Their commitment and dedication to this process have not gone unnoticed.
We will continue to keep our membership informed as negotiations progress and will provide additional updates following future bargaining sessions.
